Spend fourteen nights discovering the magic of Norway’s fjords, villages, and coastal cities on this arctic expedition cruise
Watching the magical Northern Lights dance across the night sky
is a truly otherworldly experience. On this 15-day expedition
cruise you'll search for the Aurora Borealis while sailing along
Norway's coast and magnificent fjords.
You'll set sail from Tilbury and visit charming Norwegian towns
and cities as you sail the fjords, exploring up close and in
comfort aboard Hurtigruten's advanced expedition ship, MS Maud.
You'll sail into Nordfjord, where you'll spy old fishing
communities dating back to pre-Viking times. From there you'll head
for the Lofoten Islands, with their iconic red fishing huts dotted
against a spectacular background of granite peaks.
A real highlight of the trip is five nights above the Arctic
Circle. You'll sail into Alta, dubbed 'The Northern Lights City'
one of the northernmost towns in the world. Alta sits directly
beneath the Auroral Oval, a zone known for consistent Northern
Lights activity. As long as the conditions are right, you'll be in
for the show of a lifetime.
You'll also visit the capital of the Arctic, Tromsø, with its
striking Arctic Cathedral, and Narvik, a town surrounded by three
fjords, where you can eat delicious seafood and try reindeer
meat.
Other days of the expedition will be left unplanned, so that
your expert Expedition Team can curate activities, drawing on their
in-depth knowledge of the area to take you to the most exhilarating
and captivating locations.
In between excursions you'll have plenty of time to enjoy the
facilities on MS Maud. You may want to soak in the hot tub, work
out in the gym, spend time in the Science Center, or simply relax
in the Explorer Lounge & Bar.
Hurtigruten's promise: If there is no recorded sighting of
Northern Lights during your expedition, you will be given a free 6
or 7 day Classic Voyage the year after.
