Sail iceberg-dotted waters on an epic journey from Ushuaia to the White Continent, spotting magical wildlife along the way

Visit Antarctica and you'll discover a land of seemingly endless unspoilt scenery, dramatic weather, towering icebergs and majestic marine life. This is a destination like no other and our voyage to the virtually uninhabited continent will be a truly unforgettable experience.

You'll start your journey in Buenos Aires, Argentina's bustling capital, where you'll have some time to explore the city known as the 'Paris of South America'. Then it's on to Ushuaia, in Argentina's southernmost region, where you'll embark your state-of-the-art custom-built expedition ship, MS Roald Amundsen.

As you cruise from Ushuaia to Antarctica through the fascinating Drake Passage, the onboard team will equip you with all you need to make the most of your polar expedition.

As always, nature is in charge. Your expert expedition team will travel with you and monitor conditions to give you the best adventure possible, with opportunities for kayaking, ice cruising, whale watching, hiking and more.

As you sail, you can learn more about the White Continent by joining lectures in the dedicated onboard Science Centre. Here, experts will talk passionately about Antarctica's history and the science of its unique landscapes. You'll also get the chance to talk to the onboard photographer, who'll provide helpful tips on capturing the wildlife and landscapes that await you in Antarctica.

After five days exploring Antarctica, you'll head north, crossing the Drake Passage to the Falklands to explore the rolling green hills and white sands of the picturesque archipelago. A warm welcome awaits you in the capital Stanley. There'll also be visits to the penguin and fur seal colonies that populate the shores.

During your time on board, you'll also be able to soak in breathtaking views from the comfort of a hot tub, the infinity pool, the spectacular panoramic sauna or the observation deck. You may even spot humpback, orca, minke, and fin whales as you sail.

    1
    Buenos Aires
    Buenos Aires, Argentina

With its fusion of faded European splendour and Latin American panache, an overnight stay in Buenos Aires is the ideal way to start your Antarctic adventure. Why not arrive early to explore more or join an optional Pre-Programme to tour wild Patagonia?

Take in the beautiful architecture, visit the elegant opera house of Teatro Colón, the pretty-in-pink Casa Rosada, and the National Museum of Fine Arts, displaying works by Van Gogh, Monet and Picasso.

Explore the colourful street museum in La Boca with its buzzy markets and restaurants. Or see a tango show before savouring delicious Argentinian beef in one of the city's fine steakhouses.

  4. Days
    5-8
    Antarctica
    Antarctic Peninsula, Antarctica

Surrounded by looming glaciers, and icebergs the size of floating cathedrals, Antarctica will fill you with wonder. Perhaps the most surprising part of Antarctica is the silence. It's a stillness that's broken every so often by the locals - the wildlife that calls Antarctica home.

You'll spend an exciting five days exploring several possible landing sites, dictated by weather conditions and information from the expedition team. Each day will offer something different and thrilling. You'll join the expedition on landings and ice cruises, all included as part of your expedition. You can join optional activities with memorable possibilities, such as kayaking, snowshoeing, hiking and even camping in Antarctica.

In the Antarctic summer, there might be penguins tending to their chicks, cormorants, sheathbills and egrets wheeling through the skies, or humpback whales and orcas feeding on the krill-rich waters.

In the Science Centre, look through the microscope at the tiny krill and phytoplankton that sustains so much of the region's wildlife. Get tips from the ship's professional photographer to improve your images, or join a workshop on wildlife painting and nautical knots.

You can also book a spa treatment, visit the gym, and enjoy the locally sourced, regionally inspired dishes in the restaurants.

    The Falklands
    Port Stanley, Falkland Islands

The Falkland archipelago is filled with seamless horizons, white sands teeming with birdlife, and the occasional farm dotting the landscape. You'll find grassy hills, wildflowers, sandy beaches and turquoise waters, in contrast to the vast whiteness of Antarctica. You'll also enjoy a community walk of Stanley, taking in the Jubilee Villa Gardens, Christchurch Cathedral and the Historic Dockyard Museum.

The landings, hikes, and excursions are guided by the weather. If conditions allow, you'll visit penguin colonies, often found sharing space with fur seals, getting as close as possible without disturbing them.
