WHAT WE LOVE...

As well as being located right in the centre of the action of the lively nightlife of West Hollywood, near popular attractions such as Universal Studios, the Hollywood Walk of Fame and shops on Rodeo Drive, The Andaz has an exceptional history. Opened by Gene Autry in 1963, many rock stars have stayed here, including Elton John, Blur, Motorhead and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Led Zeppelin would routinely rent several floors and their drummer John Bonham reportedly rode a motorcycle along the hallways. Jim Morrison and Little Richard lived here. Today, it offers sleek, comfortable rooms, a good restaurant and bar, and a fitness centre, and artworks are all around to remind guests of its fascinating past.

Food & Drink

The music in the restaurant is interesting and completely fitting for the hotel's history; maybe a bit of Lou Reed or some new indie recording, but never bland commercial stuff. The blueberry French toast with vanilla bean mascarpone, macerated blueberry and toasted coconut is divine; the flavour floods out from the fresh, juicy blueberries.

Riot House Market: snacks, drinks. Open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Mains from $16.
