WHAT WE LOVE...

If you're after a little low-key luxury, The Yard in Bath is your answer - offering a welcoming space right in the city centre with 14 character-filled bedrooms set around a historic courtyard. This former 18th-century coaching inn turned-boutique-bolthole is just minutes walk from Bath's most famous street, the Royal Crescent. There's a courtyard coffee spot for beverages and sweet-treats throughout the day, transforming into a cosy wine bar where guests can enjoy a handpicked list of wines and cocktails, along with beers from local breweries. Wake to a delicious continental breakfast hamper, filled with local produce delivered to your door. It's a great spot for couples, as well as solo-travellers looking to discover the sights of a historic city.

Style & Character

Suited to city-explorers, history-lovers and young couples looking for a unique escape with myriad independent and hip hangouts. The sunny courtyard has brass lanterns, large terracotta pots and sage green furniture.

Service & Facilities

We loved the hotel's ethos of supporting local businesses, reflected in everything from milk delivered in glass bottles from a Somerset farm to Cotswold Brew Co in the mini fridge.

Rooms

Room eight (Larger Room with Roof Terrace) is the largest, and the one to book - boasting a stand-alone bath and a cosy terrace with potted-plants, looking out across the chimney pots of the city. It was a complete dream to soak in the bathtub whilst taking in the golden sandstone city vistas.

Food & Drink

We enjoyed the scrape-the-plate-clean tasty cheese plates from nearby farms Westcombe Dairy and Ivy House, unashamedly washed down with a crisp glass of white. For an all-kinds-of-delicious treat, don't skip the flakiest Hobbs House Bakery pastries, with a healthy spread of salted butter and local jam.

Café and Wine Bar: cosy courtyard spot. By day, serves breakfast, sweet treats and coffee. By night, small plates of local cheese and charcuterie complement curated wines and beers. Open daily.
