WHAT WE LOVE...
Sitting in the heart of the Cotswolds just a short drive from the A44, the Kingham Plough is one of the cosiest pubs in the region. Made famous by Great British Menu winner Emily Watkins, the pub's new owners are still carrying the baton for exceptional food sourced locally. The menu is cracking, with varying twists on classic pub dishes and unusual options like gurnard, stone bass and sharing steaks. Bedrooms are separate from the main pub, meaning it's peaceful even when the locals descend on a Friday night, and there are endless walking routes to enjoy during the day. The pub is built in the classic Cotswold style, all golden brick and sash windows, and the original coaching inn archway still welcomes you into the car park.

The easy, immediate access to the surrounding fields and endless Cotswolds views make this place special. The Kingham-based Cotswold Electric Bike Tours can show you even more.
The pub is near the renowned Cotswolds town Chipping Norton, and Jeremy Clarkson's Diddly Squat Farm Shop is a short drive away.
By car: around 1 hour 20 mins from Bristol, 2 hours from London and 3 hours from Manchester. There is free parking on-site.
By train: there are direct trains to Kingham from Oxford (25 minutes) and London Paddington (1 hour 30 minutes). The hotel is a 10-minute drive thetrainline.com
Style & Character
This is cosy romance at its best, so come here with a loved one for an intimate countryside escape. There is a host of local artworks on the walls in the bar, all available to purchase should you find a piece you love.
Service & Facilities
On arrival with a dog in tow, we were offered information on short local walks for a morning stroll, and the dog was given biscuits to keep him distracted over dinner.

Dogs are welcome in two of the rooms, and beds, bowls and a treat are provided. You can dine with your dog in the bar area of the pub.

Room Six is a handsome contrast of dark wood and white walls, and it features a roll-top bath in the bedroom for sensual soaks. The homemade biscuits are a gorgeous accompaniment to the Prince & Sons tea provided.

Food & Drink
While the food is fantastic, the restaurant itself has no pretence and is instead a supremely cosy country pub with a relaxed vibe - perfect for post-walk feasts. Salads are rarely inspiring, but the goat's cheese and beetroot dish here is a triumph of flavour!
