Opened in 2015 in a relaxed seaside town backed by steep cliffs, Saccharum is one of the most striking hotels on Madeira - which is all down to its engaging interiors created by local designer Nini Andrade Silva that are themed on the island's sugarcane heritage. Spread over nine levels with seven bars and restaurants, five swimming pools and a well-equipped spa, this is a large, one-stop oceanfront resort with a contemporary zest that quickly hits the spot.
