WHAT WE LOVE...
A vibrant five-star hotel in the glamorous Quadrilatero della Moda district surrounded by some of Italy's best designer shops. At aperitivo time, when the DJ starts playing laidback beats, the fashionistas flock to Stilla bar to drape themselves on the velvet chairs or perch at the bar for glasses of spritz or the house negroni (which is on tap). In the restaurant Zelo, exquisite dishes are paired with some of Italy's finest wines by the female sommelier. Rooms in what was once a former convent are grand, with vaulted ceilings and some original frescos and suites with French doors opening onto the tranquil courtyard garden - which is a welcome oasis in the heat of summer. A subterranean pool, fitness centre and spa complete the offering.

If you fall in love with the scent of the bath products you'll find the Aqua di Parma shop just across the road.
The hotel is in the fashion district, near many flagship designer stores. You can walk to La Scala opera house in just a few minutes.
By plane: fly to Milan Malpensa from London (1 hour 50 mins) and Manchester (2 hours 5 mins). The hotel is around an hour's drive from the airport. Room 115 is the Renaissance suite, which is the biggest suite in the main building and was Karl Largerfield's favourite room in the hotel. We love that every room has a yoga mat and space for morning exercises.

The miniature canapés served with drinks in the bar are packed with flavour, and the veal cheek with parsnip, Belgian endive salad and black truffle melts in the mouth.
Zelo: Italian cuisine. Dishes include seared octopus, whole sea bass and chauteaubriand with roasted potatoes. Open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Stilla: snacks, light meals, salads, pizzas, burgers, sandwiches. Open daily for drinks, all-day dining and afternoon tea.
Camino: drinks, wines and cocktails. Open all day until 1am.
