WHAT WE LOVE...
Florence's smartest hotel sits proudly on the Piazza della Repubblica (Florence's main square) with a prime position between the Duomo and the Ponte Vecchio. This 17th-century building that has been a hotel since 1893 incorporates modern comforts and styles that blend seamlessly with traditional features. Bursts of colour from fabrics and artworks in public areas give way to elegant, more classic styles in the guest rooms. Boasting luxurious comfort throughout, the Savoy also has a gym and a spa suite. Savour supper at Italian fine dining restaurant Irene's, which has a terrace on the square ideal for soaking up the Florentine bustle.

Rooms are luxuriously furnished and impeccably maintained. The Junior Suite is decorated with a tasteful leafy wallpaper and has a spacious lounge area; the generously-sized marble bathroom has a walk-in shower and twin basins.

Breakfast on the terrace was great and is served from 7:30am to a very leisurely 11am. The Tuscan bean soup, sage ravioli and caramelised celery main course at Irene's was tasty and unusual.
Irene: bistro restaurant, Tuscan cuisine. Dishes include lobster linguine, roasted octopus and veal Milanese. All-day dining, open daily.
Irene Bar: intimate bar with outdoor terrace, handcrafted cocktails and Champagne. Open Mon-Sat, 7am-10:30pm.
