WHAT WE LOVE...

This is a stylish and funky design hotel in an old art-deco building in Kreuzberg, not a traditional area for hotels. The building dates back to 1912 and was once home to a famous café which held concerts and cabarets - and this life was brought back to the building when the hotel opened in 2017 and started a programme of regular live music. Rooms range from 17 to 86 square metres and most have high ceilings and large windows. Design touches include warm red colours with oriental motifs, and lots of wood, creating a calming relaxing space. As is fitting for Berlin, the theme here is fun and quirky, with cocktails, live gigs and even a duck-themed dining menu.

THE DETAILS

Location

The hotel is an oasis of calm in the heart of Kreuzberg, one of Berlin's trendiest (and busiest) neighbourhoods.

The hotel is surrounded by fashionable shops, cafés and record stores such as the legendary Hard Wax.
By plane: there are direct flights to Berlin Schönefeld from London (1 hour 40 mins), Manchester (1 hour 55 mins) and Edinburgh (2 hours 5 mins). Berlin Schönefeld is around a 40-minute drive from the hotel.

Style & Character

Orania will suit people who like design and fashion - the area is not in a typical touristy area but the design theme, cocktails, live music and creative food make it a superb destination. We love how the rooms are decorated, with lots of wood and soft red furnishings with elephant motifs.

Service & Facilities

A highlight is you can have a night out - dinner and a fantastic live gig - and then go upstairs to bed without leaving the building.

Rooms

Our favourite is the Oriana Loft, which is 345 square metres and has an event space, bar, kitchen, boardroom and a Steinway piano. We love the huge windows which flood the rooms with light, and also the colour scheme using lots of wood.
