WHAT WE LOVE...

Built in 1823, Villa Marquis was once the Paris residence of the Marquis de Vibraye. This noble French family still has a château in the Loire valley and historic prints of its aristocratic members add a nominal grandeur to what is now a modern five-star hotel with 64 contemporary rooms and suites set over eight floors. Part of the Spanish Meliá Collection, it happily bridges the two cultures with its multilingual staff and the low-key Dos Almas restaurant nonchalantly offering Iberian ham followed by tarte tatin. Hidden away on an unassuming street in the 8th, it's a tranquil base conveniently close to both the high fashion stores of avenue Montaigne and major museums and sights including the Eiffel Tower.

Food & Drink

At dinner, there's no music so this is a good place for a chat, while breakfast comes with mellow jazz tunes. We recommend the pumpkin soup with Iberian ham followed by grilled cod with chorizo, plus a fortifying glass of red rioja wine.

Dos Almas: French/Spanish fusion restaurant, seasonal produce. Dishes include beef tenderloin and black rice paella with sea bass and mussels. Open daily for breakfast and dinner, Mon-Fri for lunch.
