WHAT WE LOVE...

There are only four M Social hotels across the world and they like to combine luxury and creativity in an individual, design-savvy style. In this case, a grand, eight storey hotel that opened on boulevard Haussmann in 1927 has been revived as a welcoming city-centre base that manages to be both playful and pampering yet also primed for business. Opened in September 2021 after a 17-month restoration, the property looks set to become a standout place to stay and dine in this busy neighbourhood. If you fancy checking into an historic building with up-to-the-minute rooms and plenty of shopping and cultural attractions on the doorstep, here is the answer.

Style & Character

The hotel suits shoppers, opera fans and city-breakers who like a central, full-service hotel. With seven meeting rooms on the lower ground floor the hotel also appeals to groups and business travellers. Formerly the imperious Hôtel Commodore, the building has many original features including decorative stained glass, ornate ironwork and clanking, wood-panelled lifts.

The staff are keen and engage you in conversation, so when you return from a busy day it feels like you're back home with old friends.

Rooms

Rooms at the back on the uppermost floors are attractively snug and romantic. Ask for one that looks toward Sacré-Coeur. The suites are described as 'La Sweetie' and come with an emerald green throw, orange armchair and grey, parquet-patterned carpet.

Food & Drink

The tables at the front of Brasserie Haussmann are in a glassed-in portico so you can sit with a glass of wine watching Paris stroll by. The buffet breakfast is a relaxed affair with a decent choice of pastries, cheeses, cold meats and eggs cooked to order.

Brasserie Haussmann: classic French brasserie. Signature dishes include smoked salmon tartine veal and tuna steak. All-day menu, open daily.
