WHAT WE LOVE...

In a discreet, but plum-perfect, central location, this hotel occupies the top floors of the grand Galeries St-Hubert shopping arcade. With its glass vaulting, classical pilasters and elegant shops, the 19th-cenury arcade is something of a show-stopper, and many of the hotel's bedrooms look directly down and across this popular gathering point. As the shops close at night, the hotel is quiet by mid-evening. Bedrooms are surprisingly modern and minimalist in design with wood floors, funky coloured furnishings and framed contemporary art. More art dots the light-filled public rooms on the ground floor. An open kitchen serves stylish modern European food, or you can just enjoy a glass of wine. Food and wine can also be enjoyed in the quiet courtyard, overlooked by the glass walls of the dining room.

THE DETAILS

Location

One of our favourite museums in Brussels is the Belgian Comic Strip Centre, celebrating cartoon art - including the work of Belgian artist Hergé - a 10-minute walk away.

The galleries and the museums of the Upper Town are a short walk away, as is the Cathedral.
By plane: there are direct flights from London, Manchester, Edinburgh, Bristol and Birmingham. The hotel is a 30-minute drive from the airport.
By train: the Eurostar goes direct from London St Pancras to Brussels (2 hours). The terminal is a 25-minute walk from the hotel.

Style & Character

This hotel will suite singles and couples who enjoy good design and a lack of fussy details, and who want a central base. After the tourist-thronged streets outside, it is a sweet relief to step inside the pared-down calmness of the hotel.

Food & Drink

The airy room with its pale floorboards, milky-white walls and arty posters, and views to the courtyard, is a gentle way to start the day over breakfast. The wine list is interesting and well-priced, and the coffee is excellent, too.

Comptoir des Galeries: modern European fine dining. Open Tues-Fri 12-2pm and 7-10pm and Saturday 7-10pm. Dinner set menus from €39.
