Independently owned, this elegant hotel sits across two interconnecting Georgian manors in a quiet suburb of Bath. As you walk through the porch lined with logs, you immediately feel you're entering a 19th-century country home complete with oil paintings filling the drawing room walls, and working fireplaces and sash windows in many rooms. Each bedroom is individually designed, staying true to classic English design, with a palette of muted natural colours inspired by the award-winning four-acre gardens. Floral scents pervade every space, and the botanical theme continues in the spa with L'Occitane products from Provence. As befits the setting, the calm light-filled restaurant is the perfect location for afternoon tea.

The quiet hotel is the perfect place to recharge and listen to birdsong within easy reach of the bustling city.

The Bath Priory is on the edge of the city, set in picturesque gardens a short drive from the centre.
By car: From London, the journey is 113 miles (2 hours and 40 minutes). From Bristol, the journey is 13 miles (40 minutes).
By train: London Paddington to Bath takes around an hour and 15 minutes. Bus Route 20 can be taken from the station to the hotel or you can take a 10-minute taxi.
